Housing in Timisoara

noukiekoekie

Hi there,

This month I will be moving to Timisoara. A bit short notice, I know. That's why I need your help!

I have some questions about housing there. Hope you can help me out.

* Which are the best area's to live?
* What is the average price for a 1-2 room furnished apartment?
* I will be working in the City Business Centre. Is it easy to go there by public transport if you are living in the centre?
* Is it usual/very common to share an apartment in Timisoara?
* Can you recommand some real estate agency's for helping to find an apartment?

Thanks in advance!

Anouk

Me again :P

I'll also be working very near the City Business Center, near Plata 700. I'm checking some ads on publi24.ro and romimo.ro and there are plenty of available housing. The average price for a studio (garsoniera) o or 2 room apartment goes from 180 to 300 but if you want to live in a very central location like Plata Unirii the price could also reach 400-500 euro. If you are looking on a Rumanian site like the ones I told you you should search for "apartamente de inchiriat" and then apartamente de 2 camere or garsoniera. I'm telling this because I don't know how many ads in English you'll find. Normally you have to pay the first rent, a one-month-rent deposit and the fee for the real estate agency if you rent from them and the contract is at least for 1 year (for most of the ads I've seen).

Timisoara is a very safe city and there is a good transportation system so I think almost every part of the city would suit you but I'd advice you not to move too much from the center if you don't have a car (I would avoid places like Dumbravita or Lugoj for example as I am not too sure about the reliability of the mass transportaion system there).

I will be trying to rent an apartment from a private person as I don't trust too much the real estate agencies.

Good luck!
