It was my understanding that you don't need a fire extinguisher in your car, is this correct?

Or is this a requirement for BG vehicles only?

It's compulsory for ALL relevant vehicles in BG - the law applies to foreign as well as BG-registered ones, just as foreign-registered vehicles are subject to, for example, UK regulations when driven in the UK...

@JimJ I lived in france when rules upon rules were brought in, currently living in uk, rules on rules being brought in, seems the same happening in bulgaria - we are all quite capable of looking after ourselves without rules which brings taxes, fines, etc.

"Rules" is just another word for "laws", and every country has laws. These days everyone seems to think that they're Leona Helmsley and that laws only apply to the "little people"; just a cursory glance at the newspapers will show you the results of such a ridiculous attitude. If that doesn't work then perhaps pondering Ms Helmsley's discovery that even billionaires can be sent to gaol might suffice.

The days of the Wild East are mostly past and people living here, both citizens and immigrants, are indeed expected to obey the laws, one of which is that you have to have a fire extinguisher in your vehicle, and that it has to be in working order. This fact has to be checked, by someone qualified, and that check has to be verified. It's not optional, and neither is it an infringement of your right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Unfortunately, too many supposed adults these days behave more like infants who think that the entire world revolves around them and their every desire, which is why we have to have laws to ensure that the loudest/strongest/greediest don't always get their way.

If there were no rules here, the no-necks and "businessmen" could literally get away with murder all the time, instead of just sometimes; that might be your idea of a good place to live but it most certainly isn't mine, and I suspect that most other members of our little group would feel the same.

We're guests in this country and that means that we behave politely and follow the laws, whether we like them or not; luckily, we always have another option if we can't manage to do that.....聽 Or if you prefer, you can always apply to take the Citizenship Exam, once you've lived here long enough, and vote for whatever changes you might like to see - although you'd have to give up any other citizenship you happen to have (yet another "pesky rule" )

I manage to get them pages up, but I don't see any links for info on where I could get extinguisher inspected.

I know of one place near cat office in veliko tarnovo, 45 min drive each way for me, do some shopping whilst in VT to make it worthwhile for the drive.

@JimJ Gosh, you really believe that a few elitists are necessary to keep us all globally under control. For me, I know decent people who don't need corrupt rules to control us.

If you really believe that having a fire extinguisher in your car, and being required to ensure that it's in working order, is a "corrupt rule" imposed by George Soros, the mythical New World Order or whichever flavour of tin-foil-millinery sets your antennae a-quiver, then I really don't think that I have anything further to add to the discussion....

You can get fire extinguishers and car safety kits with extinguishers on eMag (search for 锌芯卸邪褉芯谐邪褋懈褌械谢) starting at around 30 lv, so it's probably easier to just buy a new one.

I have a range of commercial-grade water, CO虏, and powder extinguishers, which I "inherited", when upgrading a client's office/computer premises. They'll outlast me and aren't too expensive to get refilled when necessary. Our properties and cars are pretty well protected in that respect....

Normally there will be a shop located at your local KAT inspection and registration centre.

I'm not quite sure how requiring vehicles to have working fire extinguishers is an example of "elitist control".

You may be a totally decent person who always drives and maintains your vehicle sensibly and with concern for the safety of those around you, but sadly, not everyone is.

Some will ignore the laws regarding driving regardless, and drive unsafe, uninsured, vehicles at high speeds while unlicenced and tanked up on alcohol. Many more would, if they thought they could get away with it but won't if it's illegal and policed and the punishment is enough of a deterrent. Laws are unnecessary for the "decent" types, and disregarded by the lawless types. But sadly, there is a huge mass of people in the middle who need laws and policing, even for the most basic safety issues.

I'm not arguing that all laws are good laws or all sensible and in people's best interests. But let's save the arguments for those issues, not whether a car fire extinguisher should be in working order or not!
